Packing:
Remove wheels and fit fork and rear tip spacers so as to protect from over enthusiastic baggage handlers from crushing your frame.
Remove rear derailleur with a 5mm allen key, wrap in buble wrap and tape (use electrical tape so as not to mark your frame) between seatstays to keep it away from danger and remove the risk of dodgy shifts when you put it back in place.
Pad top and down tube, rotate handlebars and secure with tape to top tube.
Slide the frame into the centre section of the bag, no need to remove pedals and except for those of taller stature no need to remove seatpost/saddle. A plastic board is provided to protect the bottom of the bag from being cut by chainrings, however a few pieces of cardboard are a simple way of adding some extra protection.
Remove skewers from wheels and slide down either side frame using the partitions provided to prevent the wheels from scratching the frame, preferably place the wheels in wheelbags for some extra protection. Wheels are inherently very strong and will take care of themselves whilst also protecting the frame from side impacts.
Zip the bag up and you’re ready to go!
Unpacking:
Remove wheels from the bag and replace skewers.
Remove the frame from the bag, remove tape and fork & rear stay spacers.
Use a 5mm allen key to replace the rear dearailleur.
Install wheels into bike.
Pull on your shoes, clip in and enjoy the local roads or trails! |
